Karan Bhalla, a 30-year-old waiter employed by various catering services, has been arrested for allegedly murdering a 22-year-old man whose body was found in his employer’s vacant flat at Charu Market last week.
Police identified the suspect as Karan Bhalla, a resident of Mullickpur in South 24-Parganas’ Baruipur, who was arrested from his home. Investigators revealed that Bhalla had met the victim through a dating app.
“As per his statement, the victim contacted him via the app and invited him to the flat. However, an argument ensued, leading to violence. He claims the victim attacked him first,” said an officer from the Kolkata Police detective department.
On Saturday, Bauri, an employee of Karan Bhalla, of 16 Deshapran Shashmal Road in Charu Market and a resident of Barakar, Asansol, was found dead inside the apartment.
Karan Bhalla,, the owner of a wallpaper store at Lenin Sarani, was not present at the time.
According to police, Alam has confessed to the crime, stating that he used a kitchen knife to commit the murder.
“The accused has worked as a waiter in multiple catering services and was also previously employed at a well-known eatery on Park Street,” said a senior police officer.
Karan Bhalla, has been charged with murder and is set to appear before the court on Tuesday.
